Flyover inside Bhubaneswar City collapsed; Govt announced high level inquiry:

Bhubaneswar: September 10: A portion of an under-construction flyover bridge collapsed near Bomikhal here on Sunday afternoon when few labourers were busy in plastering the roof of the flyover. One person was killed and 12 others were injured in the incident. This flyover project was under Roads and Buildings(R&B) Division-4 and Panda Infra was executing the work.
The deceased has been identified as Satya Patnaik (40), resident of Bhubaneswar and Patnaik’s daughter Sheetal has also been severely injured in the mishap, who is undergoing treatment in AIIMS.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has visited the the h and expressed grief over the loss of life. Besides, Chief Minister announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for kin of the deceased. He further said that the treatment cost of the injured would be borne entirely by the State Government.
Fire tenders and ODRAF teams cer omprising 84 personnel were engaged in rescue operations at the spot. Police Commissioner YB Khurania and other administrative officials were closely monitoring the rescue operations. Deputy Executive Engineer Bansidhar Prahraj and Assistant Engineer Kishore Rout of the Works department have been suspended. A high level inquiry has been ordered by Chief Engineer, Designs and Chief Engineer, Roads.
