Govt suspends 3 gram sevaks for irregularity in Rural Housing scheme

Bhubaneswar, April 7: Three gram sevaks (village level workers) in Keonjhar district were suspended on Wednesday for their alleged negligence and irregularity in execution of Rural Housing scheme.

 The three gram sevaks — Dhirabar Behera of Pithagola gram panchayat of Harichandanpur block,  Dilip Kumar Panda of Sagadpada gram panchayat and Bikalp Charan Nayak of Gaunipasa gram panchayat were suspended by Keonjhar district collector after an inquiry.

They were alleged to have prepared false documents and uploaded fake picture of the houses which were not completed on Awas soft, an official statement said here.

The investigation revealed that there was a target to build 119 houses under the Rural Housing scheme in three gram panchayats of which only 70 were completed. But, the accused gram sevaks provided false documents about completion of the houses on the website, sources said.

The district authority had sought explanation from them over the issue along with suspending them and issuing a show-cause notice to a computer programmer and assistant programmers for uploading the fake data on the website.
