Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: After a two-day price hike in Diesel, on Wednesday the Odisha government increased ticket fares for all passenger buses on the basis of the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
It’s stated that the fares for Ordinary and Express buses have been hiked by 1 paisa per km and fares for Deluxe and AC Deluxe category buses have been hiked by 2 paisa per km. Thus, the ticket price for Ordinary buses will now be 59 paise per km as against 58 paise per km which was earlier and the ticket price for Express buses will be 62 paise from 61 paise per km. Deluxe category buses will now charge 82 paise per km as against 80 paise which was the earlier price while AC Deluxe buses will charge Rs 1.03 instead of the current Rs 1.01 paise per km. This was done based on a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department. This is the sixth time the state government has increased the Bus Fares as earlier it did so on January 21, March 10, May 3 and June 2, July 18 this year.
Notably, the oil companies had increased the price of petrol by Rs 3.38 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.67 a litre on August 31.
