India records highest single-day spike of 66,999 new COVID-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: August 13: India registered 66,999 new novel Coronavirus cases and with this it’s tally increased to 23,96,637 on Thursday. Also, in last 24 hours, 942 persons succumbed to the infection, pushing the death toll to 47,033.

As per Health Ministry’s data,56, 383 patients have recovered in last 24 hours and total number of recovered cases in the Country reached 16,95,982.

So, out of the total 2,396,637 cases, 1,695,982 cases recovered so far. The recovery rate has improved further and is 70.77 per cent now.

At present, 6,53,622 cases are active in India, which is 27.27% of the total positive cases. They are under active medical supervision.

The Case Fatality Rate (CFR)  has fallen below 2%Covid , currently standing at 1.96%.

As per ICMR,  8,30,391 samples were tested on Wednesday, taking the total to 2,68,45,688 samples so far.

Among States, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit State. It has 5,48,313 cases in total and also 18,650 people succumbed to the disease so far, which is again highest among States.

Tamilnadu has registered 3,14,520 cases and 5278 deaths till date.

Another South Indian State Andhra Pradesh reported 2,54,146 cases in total with 2246 deaths. Cases in Karnataka is also growing rapidly. It has 1,96,494 cases so far and 3,510 persons have died in the State due the infection.

Besides, Delhi recorded 1,48,504 cases with 4,139 deaths, followed by Uttar Pradesh  with 1,36,238 cases and 2230 deaths so far.

West Bengal registered 1,04,326 cases in total.

Also, Bihar is having 90,321 cases, followed by Telengana ( 86,475),  Gujarat (74,318), Assam (68,999),  Rajasthan (56,100) and Odisha (50,672).
