Bhubaneswar: August 5: A total of 52,509 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country in the past 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 19,08,254. Also, 857 persons died due to Coronavirus in a single day, taking the death toll to 39,795, as per the data provided by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in its Website.
Currently, 5,86,244 cases are active and 12,82,215 people have recovered from the disease. A total of 51,706 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate has further improved to 67.19 per cent.
India has one of the lowest Case Fatality Rate (CFR) at 2.09 per cent as compared to the global average.
2,14,84,402 samples, including 6,19,652 on 4th August, have been tested so far in the Country.
Total cases in Maharashtra rose to 4,57,956, followed by Tamilnadu (2,68,285), Andhra Pradesh (1,76,333), Karnataka (1,45,830), Delhi (1,39,156), Uttar Pradesh (1,00,310), West Bengal (80,984), Telengana (70,958), Gujarat (65,599) and Bihar (61,788).
