Mumbai, Apr 3: Yesterday, on Sunday Apr 4, the singing reality TV show, Indian Idol, completed its 9th season finishing off with its grand finale on Sony Entertainment channel. LV Revanth, the popular name in the Tollywood industry and the Baahubali singer emerged as the winner of the Indian Idol season 9. His style of singing took away millions of hearts and made them convert into millions of votes which lead to his win. Revanth, has lent his voice for around 200 songs in southern films including Baahubali: The Beginning. He attracted everyone’s attention right from the start when he auditioned for the first time. He being a south indian from Vishakhapatnam and not knowing hindi that well, he sang the Bollywood numbers of all times with much ease and depth. With his win, he got a musical contract with Universal Music and a sum of Rs 25 lakh along with a Mahindra SUV car. Being a known singer in Telugu and Kannada film industry, Revanth was the judges’ and audience’s favourite. As he said on the premiere episode itself, he joined Indian Idol to get recognition nationwide and debut in Bollywood.
The other two runners-up were Hyderabad based PVNS Rohit and from Mukhtasar Punjab, Khuda Baksh who became the second and first runner-up of the show respectively.
The show, apart from, witnessing the outstanding performances of the three finalists and other performances, also graced the coming of legendary former cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, who had come for the world television premiere of his debut track, “Cricket Waali Baat” which is a collaboration between Sonu Nigam and Sachin. Revanth was conferred with the title by Sachin himself. It also featured actors Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi, who appeared to promote their forthcoming show Sabse Bada Kalakar.Ace choreographer-cum-filmmaker Farah Khan, renowned singer Sonu Nigam and music composer Annu Malik, who had kick-started the Indian Idol journey as judges in the first two editions, returned on the panel for the ninth season of the Sony Entertainment Television show, which was hosted by Karan Wahi and Paritosh Tripathi.
