Indigenous Tejas to make maiden flight abroad soon

New Delhi, Jan 2: Indigenous light combat aircraft Tejas will make its first flight outside India soon, when it participates in the Bahrain International Airshow, an official statement said on Friday.

The airshow, being held from January 21-23, will have India showcasing its state-of-the-art airborne platforms, associated sensors and communication systems designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

“DRDO, along with some of its production partners is displaying India’s strength in advanced defence technology areas, with the aim of exploring the potential of exporting these advanced systems to friendly countries in the region,” an official statement said.

The show will also have the popular Team Sarang of the Indian Air Force (IAF) showcasing the nation’s prowess by flying ALH Dhruv helicopter designed and developed by HAL during the Bahrain Airshow.

Indoor exhibits will include scaled down models of the light combat aircraft (LCA) fighter, Navy version and trainer, NAG anti-tank missile, Akash missile system, Compact Hull Mounted Sonar, and a range of other products developed by the DRDO.
