Panel to decide on sharing patterns of the produce between the landlords and sharecroppers
Bhubaneswar, June 1: The state government in its inter-ministerial committee meet scheduled to be held today under the chairmanship of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty will decide on the draft bill initiated to protect the sharecroppers’ interests. The meet will decide on the sharing patterns of the produce between the landlords and sharecroppers, process of financial compensation for farmers etc.
Notably, after the last inter-ministerial meet, which remained mostly incomplete, the draft was sent to the law department for consideration.
The step is taken to protect the rights of sharecroppers, as even after cultivating a huge plate of land in the state, they neither get government’s assistance during natural calamities, loan from banks, fertilisers at subsidised cost, input subsidies, insurance cover and other benefits.
