Bhubaneswar: June 26: The Regional Resource and Training Centre (RRTC), East Zone-III, Odisha with the support of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), Govt. of India and Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department(SSEPD), Govt. of Odisha, in association with Hope Foundation, Aruna, Inno method , Parameter Software, SBT Infrastructure, Sristi Service-Outdoor Catering , BI Professionals, Tata Sponge Iron Ltd. , Iup Financial Service ,Indian Psychiatric Society, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and National Cadet Crops (NCC) of Odisha organized a mass rally followed by the awareness meeting at IDCOL Auditorium,Unit-2,Bhubaneswar on 26th June, 2019 on the occasion of celebrating the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”. Almost 500 participants including 500 girl cadets of NCC, Ex- Drug Addicts, govt. functionaries, Staffs of NCB, Social activists as well as social workers participated in the awareness meeting and rally. At 7 A.M on Wednesday, at first the Commanding Officer, NCC, Odisha, Col. C.D Sahoo flagged off the rally which started from Congress Bhawan at Master Canteen Square and marched on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. to the IDCOL Auditorium. The participants displayed Pla-Cards, Posters and Banners as well as raised slogans on “prevention of drug abuse and illicit Trafficking” to create awareness among the people.
After the rally was over, a public meeting was organized by the organizer where Mr. Niten Chandra, IAS, Principal Secretary, SS&EPD, Govt. of Odisha joined as Chief Guest and inaugurated the meeting accompanies by other guests. Among others Col. K.G Mohanty, ADG, Training NCC Directorate of Odisha, Dr. Suvendu Narayan Mishra, General Secretary, Indian Psychiatric Society cum Professor, Deptt. Of Psychiatrist, Sum Medical College and Hospital, Mr. Sriharsha Mohanty, Executive Director, Community Foundation of India, Mr. Bikash Rout, Director, Community Foundation of India, Mr. Bharadwaj Mishra, Youth Leader and Motivator, Mr. Sudhir Chandra Dash, President, AVA and Mr. Duryodhan Parida, Secretary of AVA joined as Guests in the programme. Mr. Mohanty gave introductory address and encouraged the youth participants in this occasion. In the meeting Chief Guest Mr. Niten Chandra, IAS gave emphasis on how the addict recovered through the treatment and rehabilitation centers in Odisha which was supported by Ministry. Col K.G Mohanty, ADG focused on the NCC cadets is the future leader of the country, where as Dr. Mishra delivered a speech about how the addict benefit from the psychiatric treatment and Mr. Dash describe about the RRTC activity in Odisha. Other dignitaries like Mr. Rajendra Prasad Rath, Mr. Balunkeswar Parida, Mr. Pranit Sharma, Officers from NCB, Corporate houses, other NGOs was present in the meeting. Among the delegates, many students, volunteers, youths, govt. functionaries, social activists, media personnel and social workers witnessed this programme and received knowledge about drug abuse and its prevention. The organizers also gave mementos to outstanding work in the field of drug de-addiction and illicit trafficking.
The programme was organized under the supervision of Sri Duryodhan Parida, Secretary of AVA where as Ms. Basanti Behera, Mr. Satyajit Mohanty, Ms. Sumitra Sahoo,Purna Chandra Sahani , Mr. Manas Pradhan, Ms. Binodini Rath, Santosh Kumar Rana, Jayakrushna Sahoo and other staff members of AVA coordinated effectively to organize the event. At last, Mr. Rout congratulated all the participants for the successful observance of the day and conveyed his heartiest gratitude for their active support and cooperation.
