Jaitley to visit Peru on Oct 7


New Delhi:

Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitely will visit Lima and the US for seven days fromOctober 7 to attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank and other associated meetings.

The Finance Minister, in his capacity as India’s Governor on the Board of Governors’ of IMF and the World Bank, leads the Indian delegation to these meetings.

Dr Raghuram Rajan, Governor RBI Dr Raghuram Rajan, Secretary in Department of Economic Affairs Shaktikanta Das,  Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) Dr Arvind Subramanian and other senior officials are also part of the Indian delegation.

Jaitley will address the meetings of Commonwealth Finance Ministers and G-20 Finance Ministers and speak at the Ministerial Panel on Climate Finance.

He will also hold bilateral meetings with President, World Bank and the Finance Ministers of other countries.

The key issues of discussion during the World Bank meeting are the role of World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to support the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), shareholding review of the World Bank and changes in the financing structures of International Development Agency (IDA).

In addition, the recent developments in the global economy, strategies and policy options to strengthen global recovery, financial stability issues and the stalemate in the implementation of the 2010 IMF quota and governance reforms are key issues that would be discussed during the IMF meetings.  He will return on October 14.
