Jaundice re-appeared in Odisha; 76 people affected in Cuttack City

Cuttack: Jaundice appeared in Cuttack again. Around 76 persons afflicted with the disease, have been identified in different parts of the millennium city. Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debasish Samantaray and Cuttack Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra today visited jaundice affected areas like city’s ward no.8, 9 and 10. The disease is said to have spread due to contamination of piped drinking water. The district administration has made special arrangements for treatment of jaundice at SCB Medical College and Hospital and City Hospital. Cuttack Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra said, ‘Public Health Engineering Organisation(PHEO) will inspect the water distribution lines and collect water samples, which will be sent to laboratories. After going through the reports, we shall take necessary step.’
