Bhubaneswar, June 25: Jaundice becomes widespread since Friday in Odisha after its irruption at Jadupur and Begunia village in the state. Now it’s been detected in Azad Nagar Slum under Ward 67 of BMC where around seven cases have been registered.
One of the infected person reported saying that on a recent basis her parents had gone to bring her from her in-law’s house in Jadupur, maybe at the time of their stay the disease might have infused. Sources add, a total of six persons are affected by Jaundice at the slum area.
District Medical Officer in Public Health, Dr Deben Das confirmed that the spread has now turned viral and blood samples of all the affected people of the slum have been collected for surety and further treatment.
The slum has no piped water. People depend on tubewells and wells for drinking purposes. City Mayor Anant Narayan Jena said that it’s been planned to supply pipe water to the slum. Khurda Collector, Niranjan Sahoo also made a visit to the villages to take note of the recent situation. . Health officials and doctors conducted health checkups and workshops at Jadupur and Begunia to make people alert and aware about the infection along with its symptoms.
