Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday that the Judicial Archive of the Odisha High Court is a reflection of the progressive vision of the judiciary and will go beyond the administration of justice and broaden the scope of history, culture and education,
“This is a significant step towards the preservation of judicial documents, records and artefacts. It will be an invaluable resource for legal researchers, students and historians for ages,” said the Chief Minister inaugurating the Judicial Archives of the Odisha High Court in Cuttack.
He said that this demonstrates the collective commitment to preserve the rich tradition of our judiciary for the future generations.
The Chief Minister said that today’s inauguration of this judicial archive will serve as a repository of the rich heritage of our legal system. It will be a repository of legal history, historical cases and invaluable examples. It can perpetuate the legal landscape of Odisha and our country.
The Chief Minister complimented Chief Justice and the judges of the Odisha High Court for their tireless efforts in making this project a reality.
“The state government is committed to reforming and improving the judiciary. The government will continue to work towards strengthening the judicial infrastructure, implementing technology in the legal system and delivering justice to all,” Majhi said and added that the government is taking steps to increase the conviction rate in Odisha.
“The government has taken a policy decision to set up women’s courts in four districts to punish violence against women,” the Chief Minister said while mentioning that more such specialized courts will be set up in the coming days on the directions of the High Court.
Chief Justice of Odisha High Court Chakradhari Sharan Singh laid emphasis on the preservation of the records of various courts of Odisha.
