Bolangir: June 7: Patnagarh PWD Junior Engineer Jaswant Sabar’s wife has lodged a FIR with the Patnagarh Police Station against the act of MLA Saroj Meher.
In the FIR, she alleged that the MLA with some followers came to the residence on Wednesday and forced her husband to go with them.
She further alleged, ‘some followers of the MLA have also beaten her husband and given casteist remarks’.
The angry wife of the JE, who hails from a tribal community, has also demanded immediate arrest of Patnagarh MLA Saroj Meher.
On the other side, Saroj Meher, the BJD MLA tendered an apology on the issue.
The video clip, which had gone viral, shows Meher pointing out the poor quality of road in his constituency and asking the JE Sabar to do 100 sit-ups.
After Sabar did some sit ups, he requested the MLA to let him off. MLA said, ‘If you refuse to do sit ups, the locals will beat you up’.
MLA also said, ‘It’s public money, everybody’s money. I am also a tax payer. The road work is very bad.’
Later, Sabar was rescued by police from Khariar of Nuapada district, on Thursday late night.
Bolangir administration has ordered an inquiry on the incident.
