Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: The Tata Steel project at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district would be commissioned from April this year, Project Director TB Rabindran has said.
Rabindran said this to the reporters after attending a meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi. He said the plant would produce three million tonnes of steel per annum.
The project is in the final stages. Though the plant would commission from April, it would run full-fledged from 2017, he said.
Speaking about Gopalpur Port in Ganjam district, Rabindran said plans are afoot to develop special economic zone (SEZ) at the port in order to attract foreign investors.
Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary R Bal Krishnan and other senior Government officers were present.
