Phulbani, Aug 1: Today, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by the SP, Human Rights Protection Cell, Gurudas Kundu began its second section enquiry into the death of five villagers, who were killed during an anti-Maoist operation near Gumudumaha village in Malapanga forest of Kandhamal district on July 8.Kundu reported that the SIT which had been made to operate by the state government for probing the kandhamal incident was over with its first section from July 17 to 27.
On asking about the focus of the SIT in its second section of enquiry, Kundu stated that the team has already sent guns live bullets and empty cartridges that it had seized in its first section of enquiry to experts for proper autopsy, but the report is yet to come. On the other hand, the second enquiry will be about the nature of firing and the nature of death of the villagers.
