Bhubaneswar: Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0, a celebration of the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual connections between two of the most ancient and revered regions of our nation: Kashi and Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has said.
Addressing the Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Kashi on Monday, Majhi said, “This Sangamam, this confluence, is a testament to our nation’s unity in diversity — where different regions come together, not just in spirit but in shared knowledge and mutual respect.”
Kashi is not just a city; it is a symbol of India’s eternal spiritual heritage, he said. “The Ganga flows here with the wisdom of ages, carrying stories of devotion, learning, and enlightenment. Tamil Nadu, with its classical language, rich literature, magnificent temples, and profound philosophical traditions, is another embodiment of India’s timeless culture,” he pointed out.
Stating that Odisha, too, shares this spirit, CM Majhi said, “Our state is home to the magnificent Jagannath Temple in Puri, a place that attracts pilgrims from across the country, much like Kashi. The Rath Yatra, our iconic chariot festival, mirrors the grand spiritual traditions seen in Tamil Nadu’s temple processions. Our classical Odissi dance and Tamil Nadu’s Bharatanatyam both speak the language of devotion and storytelling, transcending barriers of region and language.”
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam is not just an event — it is a bridge between the North and South, a celebration of shared traditions and cultural harmony, he pointed out. “It reminds us that while our languages, customs, and practices may differ, our core values of love, respect, and spirituality remain the same,” he said, stating that this cultural integration is what makes India a truly unique and vibrant nation.
“As we immerse ourselves in the melodies of Carnatic music, the verses of ancient Tamil poetry, the chants of Vedic hymns, and the wisdom of saints from both regions, we realize how interconnected our heritage is,” he said. This Sangam offers us an opportunity to learn from each other, to appreciate the richness of our differences, and to strengthen the bonds that unite us, he added.
Congratulating the organizers for this extraordinary effort to bring together the cultural essence of Kashi and Tamil Nadu, the CM said, “I am confident that this exchange of ideas, art, and spirituality will continue to inspire future generations.”
“Let us take this spirit of unity and understanding forward. Let the Ganga and the Cauvery, the Jagannath Temple and the Meenakshi Amman Temple, the Odissi and the Bharatanatyam, and the wisdom of our saints continue to guide us toward harmony and progress,” he said.
Wishing Sangamam flourish in its mission to foster cultural unity and collective wisdom, Majhi extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath for organizing this Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 at NAMO GHAT in Kashi.
Majhi has offered prayers at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Sharing the experience of the divine ‘darshan’, CM Majhi on Monday wrote, “It is a matter of immense honor and spiritual fulfillment to visit the sacred Shreeram Temple in Ayodhya and have the divine darshan of Ramlala. On behalf of the people of #Odisha, I extend my heartfelt prayers for the prosperity, harmony and well-being of all. May the blessings of Lord Ramlalaji guide us on the path of compassion, justice and service.”
CM Majhi also stated that he sought the blessings of Lord Rama to achieve the goal of ‘Samruddha Odisha’ (developed Odisha) and the creation of a new Odisha.
