Bhubaneswar, March 11: Kidney Day observed in Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences with the inauguration of Kidney Disease Screening Clinic at KISS.
As many as 25,000 students of KISS will be able to access different clinical tests for early detection of kidney diseases free of cost, said a release. Kidney disease can affect children in various ways, ranging from treatable disorders without long-term consequences to life-threatening conditions. Prevention is better than cure, so the early detection of symptoms of Kidney disease will help them to aggravate, added the release. Like every year World Kidney Day was observed in KIMS today. The theme of this year is ‘Kidney disease and children- act early to prevent’.
A seminar on this theme was inaugurated by Prof PP Mathur, VC KIIT University in presence of RN Dash, Secretary, KIIT and KISS; Dr RN Samanta, CEO, KIMS; Prof SC Dash, Director; Dr BC Das, Director, School of Medicine; Prof SB Ogale, Principal and P Parida, MR, KIMS. All speakers gave importance on making awareness among the mass on kidney disease.
Awareness is more important than clinically diagnosis. Awareness should start from community, they opined. They also said, many children who may be at risk of kidney disease at an early age. It is therefore crucial to encourage and facilitate education, early detection and a healthy life style in children, starting at birth and continuing through to old age, to combat the increase of preventable kidney damage including acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease and to treat children with inborn and acquired disorders of the kidney.
Earlier this morning a awareness rally was organized from Patia to KIMS to create awareness among common people.
