KIIT to host 39th World Congress of Poets

Bhubaneswar: October 13: 39th World Congress of Poets (WCP) will be organized in KIIT in October 2019. It was declared by The World Academy of Arts and Culture (WAAC) in presence of Dr. Maurus Young, President; Prof. Dr. Ernesto Kahan, Vice President and Dr. Maria Eugenia Soberanis, General Secretary of WAAC in the 38th World Congress of Poets hosted in Suiyang County of China’s Guizhou Province from 10 to 16 October 2018. WAAC and KIIT will jointly organize the 39th WCP. More than 1000 poets, writers including Noble Laureates from 75 countries and 2000 delegates from India will participate in the Congress. During the 38th WCP, WAAC declared to honour Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS with its highest award “Golden Gabel” and confer Honorary D.Litt on him. It will be given later in India to Dr. Samanta as he is unable to attend the congress due to his ill health. The Mayor of Suiyang County handed over the Flag and Flame of WCP to R. K. Das, Sr. Advisor of KIIT.

The World Academy of Arts and Culture (UNESCO) auspices the World Congress of Poets (WCP) founded in 1969. The main motto of WAAC is to promote World Brotherhood and World Peace through Art and Culture. Dr. Young, Prof. Dr. Kahan, and Dr. Maria had discussed with Dr. Samanta for organizing 39th WCP and the Golden Jubilee Celebration of WAAC in India. Dr. Samanta has given his consent to organize 39th WCP in KIIT. Giving information regarding 39th WCP, Dr. Samanta Said, “It is a matter of pride that, in India KIIT is hosting the 39th WCP”. It will definitely promote the art, culture, heritage, literature, tradition and tourism of Odisha in international level. Though Odisha has glorious history of art, culture, heritage, literature, tradition and tourism, it needs more promotion worldwide, he added.
