Bhubaneswar: The suicide by a Nepali girl student in the hostel of KIIT University and the manhandling of the agitating students by university staff rocked the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday with a Congress leader demanding a thorough investigation into the issue.
If there is no investigation, I will sit on Dharna in the House, said Congress leader Taraprasad Bahinipati in the House during Zero Hour.
He said the image of Odisha is tarnished in the country and world. Nepal is our friend’s country | the people of that country are Jagannath’s devotees and musk deer for the Lord comes from there, he added.
Bahinipati said it is sad that students from that country, who have come to study here, are harassed and forced to commit suicide. “The pride of the land has been insulted. Odisha, Jagannath culture is in question. I demand a judicial probe, “ he demanded.
