KISS to open branch in Mayurbhanj and 6 other districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: In view to facilitate quality education to poor tribal children, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) is likely to set up its branch in Mayurbhanj, Odisha. For this, a MoU has been signed between KISS and Adani foundation on Thursday. On behalf of KISS, Dr. Achutya Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS and Chairperson of Adani Foundation Priti Adani signed the MoU in the presence of President of Adani Group Goutam Adani and Vice-chairman Karan Adani.

As a matter of fact, five years back KISS had purchased the land in Baripada, the district headquarter of Mayurbhanj, for setting up a replica of the institute.

Agreeing upon the KISS proposal, Adani Foundation has accorded its support to KISS. As mentioned in the signed MoU, one-time infrastructure aid will be given by Adani Foundation.

Expressing pleasure on this noble work, Adani stated that from the next academic year, the branch which will be built up in Mayurbanj will start operating following which students of Mayurbhanj and nearest districts will get better education.

Besides this, in Koraput, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sundergarh and Keonjhar, KISS has purchased land to set up KISS branches.

Some corporate houses have also shown their support to help KISS to set up KISS branches. Among the other 6 corporate houses that have agreed to support KISS, Emami-Balasore and Adani- Mayurbhanj have approved to provide support to build up KISS branches in 6 districts.

The intake capacity of each branch will be 1200 students, Dr. Samanta informed.

KISS, currently facilitates education starting from KG to PG to above 25000 children in Odisha and neighboring states and also provides them free food and residential facility.
