Lakhimpur Violence
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi along with Priyanka left for Tikunia village of Lakhimpur Kheri together to take note of the Lakhimpur violence. Earlier, after leaving Lucknow, Rahul met Priyanka Gandhi directly after reaching Sitapur Guest House. They stayed there for about half an hour. After this both the brother and sister left for Lakhimpur to meet the farmers. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav will also visit Lakhimpur on Thursday.
The UP administration has approved 17 vehicles in Rahul-Priyanka’s convoy. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also left for Lakhimpur with both of them. Congress leaders Deepender Singh Hooda, Randeep Singh Surjewala, KC Venugopal and Ajay Kumar Lallu have gone to Lakhimpur to meet the farmers’ families too.

- Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has demanded the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home, Ajay Mishra and the arrest of all the accused in the Lakhimpur violence incident. Tikait has warned that a nationwide agitation would be launched if the government failed to implement the agreement made with the farmers within a week.
- Punjab Minister Pargat Singh has said that Congress workers will march to Lakhimpur Kheri with a convoy of 10,000 vehicles on Thursday.
- Maharashtra cabinet passed a resolution expressing grief over the unfortunate death of farmers in Lakhimpur. A bandh has been announced in Maharashtra on October 11 over the Lakhimpur violence. The three parties of Maha Vikas Aghadi Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP have supported it.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in at the airport itself. Even after getting permission from the administration to go to Lakhimpur, there was confusion about Rahul’s dharna. After this, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that he would leave the airport only after getting permission to go in his trains till Lakhimpur. After a long time, the administration gave its permission. After this Rahul Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi left for Lakhimpur.
