Lord Jagannath and His Siblings return to abode from Sri Gundicha Temple

Puri: July 01: Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra reached Singhadwara after completion of nine-day stay at Sri Gundicha Temple.

The journey from Sri Gundicha Temple to Singhdwara, called Bahuda Yatra concluded with out the devotees due to COVID pandemic.

Amid the beating of gongs, cymbals, blowing of conch shells, the deities were brought out of Gundicha Temple and taken in chariots in a procession called ‘Pahandi’.

Lord Balabhadra was the first to set off in the chariot Taladhwaja, followed by Devi Subhadra in the chariot Darpadalana and Lord Jagannath in Nandighosa.

Gajapati Dibyasingha Dev performed Chhera Panhara rituals on the three chariots at around 10 am.

Without the devotees, the Servitors pulled the Chariots to Singhadwara.

Chariot of Lord Balabhadra reached the Singhadwar first, followed by Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalana and finally Chariot of Jagannath Nandighosa reached Singhadwara.

Tomorrow is Suna Besha, followed by Adhara Pana on July 3 and then Niladri Bije.
