Bhubaneswar: April 22: The Lyrid Meteor Shower has reemerged, signifying the commencement of the 2025 meteor season. Active from April 17 to April 26, its maximum visibility will transpire overnight on April 21-22, with the possibility of witnessing up to 18 meteors per hour.

The stars are back with a bang after a quiet stretch in the sky. They’re bringing one of the most anticipated shows of the year: the Lyrid Meteor Shower. This cosmic event marks the beginning of the meteor season for 2025 and offers some magical moments for people who like to watch the sky.

It might be a little harder to see fainter stars this year, though, because the moon is waning and making a crescent shape. That being said, the show is still pretty good if you’re there at the right time.

Where to See the Lyrids in 2025

You can see the Lyrid shower best from places in the Northern Hemisphere, like the US, Canada, Europe, and the northern parts of Asia. If you’re in a rural or semi-rural place away from city lights, your chances of seeing the show are much higher.

As experts say, Indian skywatchers will have a hard time seeing the stars this year.
