New Delhi, July 29: The Odisha and Chhattisgarh meeting as scheduled by the Centre will be held today, chaired by Union Water Resources secretary Sashi Sekhar, in order to come out with a fair solution to the Mahanadi water issue going on from days between these two neighboring days which has aroused to an extreme level after Chhattisgarh initiated to start number of projects in the upper catchment of the river.
Sources inform that the said meeting would resolve a host of issues relating to the project undertaken by Chhattisgarh government on Mahanadi. It is stated that the issue as to whether the Central Water Commission (CWC) has actually approved of the projects or not will be discussed in the meeting along with whether there has been a discussion between both the State governments on these projects. The CWC authorities are also to be present at the meeting in Delhi today.
Notably, BJD yesterday moved a privilege motion against Minister of State for Water resources, Sanjeev Balyan’s misleading facts in Parliament. By terming the facts as false given by the MoS in Parliament, BJD MP, Nagendra Pradhan said it is only to mislead people regarding the issue. BJD would bring a privilege motion for this. Meanwhile, Pratap Deb, BJD spokesperson also informed that the information given by Chhattisgarh Government regarding the Kelo project, Arpa-Bhainsjhar project in 2015 was also incorrect and false.
