Mahanadi water issue; Chhattisgarh government to submit facts at meeting held in September second week

Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: As per the decision taken in a meeting between Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Raman Singh and Senior Officers of the state in Raipur on Thursday, the Chhattisgarh Government will submit all the information and facts at the meeting which will be held in Delhi on the Mahanadi water issue in the second week of September.

In the meeting yesterday, Brij Mohan Agarwal, Water Resources Minister, Chhattisgarh was also present.

As per the information, Chhattisgarh only utilizes 3.5 percent of Mahanadi water, while for Odisha it is 14 percent. Around 82 percent of Mahanadi water is left unutilized.

Notably, On August 24, to discuss on Mahanadi water issue, Uma Bharti, Union Water Resource Minister had called for a meeting with the Chief Minister of Odisha and Chhattisgarh on a mutually convenient date between September 10 and 20.
