MALKANGIRI, OCT 4: Maoists gunned down a tribal man in a forest area at Kandhaguda in Malkangiri district suspecting him to be a police informer, police officials said today.
A group of ultras stormed into the village and took away Arjun Khara (40) from his house last night and his bullet-riddled body was found in a nearby forest road this morning.
A hand-written message recovered from the site stated that Khara was punished for operating as an informer of the police and assisting them in anti-naxal drive.
Security forces have stepped up the combing operation and patrolling in the area after the incident, police said.
