Maoists organise meeting to urge the people not to participate in Panchayat Poll of Odisha:

Malkangiri: October 02: Maoists urged the people of six panchayats to boycott the coming panchayat elections and asked the people to strengthen the militia by joining their outfit. The extrenists had organised a meeting at Jantri village of Andrapalli panchayat of Chitrakonda block. It is said; more than 3000 people attended the meeting. Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said, Maoists had organised a ‘anti police meeting’ at Jantri village of Andrapalli panchayat under Chitrakonda block yesterday and they had forcibly brought the villagers of six panchayats to the meeting with the help of two government motor launches and four country boats provided by the district administration to these six panchayats. He said, as their influence in these areas has been reducing day by day, they are desperate to organise such meeting. But, people who had joined their outfit earlier are now returning to the mainstream of the society. Police will intensify operations in the cut-off areas and efforts will be made to bring more and more people to the mainstream of society.
