Sambalpur, April 5: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), the flagship company of Coal India Limited, felicitated three Padmashri awardees of Odisha as it celebrated 25th foundation day of the company.
Padmashri Dr PK Jena (Science and Technology) was felicitated by MCL’s Director (Technical/Operations) AK Tiwari, while Jagriti Mahila Mandal president Dr Nisha Thakur felicitated Padma Shri Tulshi Munda (Social Service) and MCL’s Director (Technical/Projects and Planning) JP Singh felicitated Padma Shree Haldar Nag (Poet) in the presence of Director (Finance) KK Parida and Director (Personnel) LN Mishra among Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) members and other dignitaries.
CMDs, Dr AS Prasad, SN Sharma, SR Upadhaya and AN Sahay, who had come to join MCL family to celebrate the silver jubilee of MCL, were also felicitated with shawl and a memento.
Later, a live performance of Rock Star fame Rituraj Mohanty left the audience spellbound with his mesmerizing renditions.
A series of programmes to create awareness on various central government programmes, performance analysis within the company, promotion of art and cultural are part of Silver Jubilee celebrations in the company.Contributing 39 pc to the incremental growth of Coal India Limited, MCL has become the coal producer in the country by producing a record 138 million tonnes of dry fuel and supplying more 140 million tonne to the consumers in the financial year 2015-16.
