MCL’s Jagriti Mahila Mandal takes out awareness rally to mark women’s Day

Sambalpur, March 7: Wives and children of the employees at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) took out a rally under the aegis of Jagriti Mahila Mandal to commemorate International Women’s Day and create awareness on importance of child education in the society.

Led by president Jagriti Mahila Mandal Dr (Ms) Nisha Thakur, the volunteers carrying placards and enchanting slogans praising role of women in the building good society marched through the peripheral villages in Burla this morning.

Vice-presidents Jyotirmayee Parida, Dr Richa Srivastava, Secretary Manjiri Sinha were prominent among the members of Jagriti Mahila Mandal participating in the rally, which saw active participation of Jagriti Mahila Sabha and MCL Anand Vihar Ladies Club members.

Addressing the participants at premises of MCL DAV Public School, Burla, Dr Thakur emphasised on the need of moral education among the children in the society.

‘’It is duty of a mother to instill morality in her child and lay a strong foundation for society, and a great nation,’’ she said in reference to the issue of gender bias and crime against women in the society.

Alka Mehra conducted the proceedings of programme wherein a large number of women shared their views on International Women’s Day celebrations.
