Mercury rises across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 13: Mercury soared in several areas of the State on Saturday giving a hint of the summer ahead.

According to Met office here, Hirakud was the hottest place registering 41.2 degrees Celsius temperature giving citizens there a torrid time.

 Bolangir with 40 degrees Celsius was close behind while Malkangiri recorded 39.6 followed by Sambalpur’s 39.2 degrees Celsius, the Met office bulletin here this evening said.

 The State Capital recorded 37.8 degrees Celsius while Millenium City Cuttack registered a high of 36.5 degrees Celsius. Angul and Bhawanipatna both recorded 38.7 while Chandbali recorded 37 degrees Celsius, it said.

 As many as five places witnessed over 36 degrees Celsius temperature during the day, the bulletin said.    

 Balasore recorded 36.4 degrees, Baripada and Sundergarh 36 degrees each, Talcher 36.2 degrees, Titlagarh 36.5 degrees and Sonepur 36.1 degrees Celsius, the Met bulletin said.

 Paradip remained the coolest among places recording only 30.2 degrees Celsius while Daringabadi-Kashmir of Odisha- recorded 34.5 degrees.
