Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: A man named Lingaraj Nayak, an accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl in Odisha capital on Diwali night was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Friday.
The accused hails from Science Park slum in the capital city and was arrested by the Saheed Nagar police.
A case under section 376 (2) (f) of IPC and Section 4 of POCSO Act was registered and the accused was forwarded to the court on Friday.
Notably, by entering the house and threatening the family of a minor girl at knife point, Lingaraj Nayak raped the minor girl on Sunday night. He took the girl to the backyard and raped her. However, the girl raised an alarm and was rescued by the locals. A case was registered on Wednesday at the Saheed Nagar Police station after the incident was taken to Satyabrata Bhoi, DCP of Bhubaneswar. However, Nayak was on the run after committing the crime.
