Bhubaneswar, March 10: Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi has demanded replacement, upgradation and necessary repair of the Jeypore Radio station in southern odisha.

Making a mention under rule 377 in the Lok Sabha, Majhi said that this station caters to Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada districts.

Because of its vastness and mountainous terrain it is not able to cover the whole area. The machinery are nearly 50 year old and requires urgent attention.

He said there are also only 55 officers as against the required 140 due to which good and new proposals are not being taken up.

“There is a need to fill up the posts and promote tribal programmes,” he demanded.

He said Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada district will also benefit immensely if Union Government takes up early commissioning of radio stations it has proposed.
