Thursday, the Orissa High Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI investigation into the murder case that claimed the life of Odisha cabinet minister Naba Das.

On 6 February, Bharatiya Vikash Parishad filed a petition requesting a CBI investigation into the case, and the State Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, CBI, and Crime Branch were named as respondents.

Justice J.P.Das, a retired Orissa High Court judge, is monitoring the ongoing investigation by the State Crime Branch into the high-profile murder case.

Upon hearing the petition, the court ruled that it is “too early” to transfer the case to the central probing agency.

As per latest development, the investigating agency has taken Gopal Das to Gandhinagar In Gujarat for his narco-analysis test.

Even though 12 days have passed, the probing agency is yet to make any headway into the case.

On January 29th, ASI Gopal Das allegedly shot Naba Das near Gandhi Chhak in Brajrajnagar, Jharsuguda District. Das, who sustained life-threatening injuries in the attack, was rushed to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital before being airlifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
