NALCO Employees contribute one day salary amounting to Rs.2.53 crores to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund

Bhubaneswar: May 12: Responding to the appeal given by Dr.Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO, in the aftermath of the devastating cyclone Fani, all employees of NALCO have come forward to donate one day salary to the Chief Minster’s Relief Fund as a token gesture of standing with the people of Odisha in this difficult time as also to put in their contribution for rebuilding the affected areas of the state.

On behalf of NALCO collective, a cheque amounting to Rs. 2,53,08,108/- was handed over by top management of NALCO, including Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, Shri V. Balasubramanyam, Director (Production), Shri Basant Kumar Thakur, Director (HR) and Shri Sridhar Patra, Director (Finance) to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state Secretariat on Saturday.

It may be mentioned here that immediately in the aftermath of the cyclone, NALCO has not only restored its own facilities including corporate office, R&D Centre and township, but has also been working round the clock for providing relief to the cyclone affected people of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri. In that direction, 07 dedicated teams comprising of DG sets, Plumbers, wood Cutters, Electricians and volunteers have been put to work in different localities. Also, more than 8000 families have been provided relief packets consisting of dry food, jagerry, fruits, milk, biscuits, bread and clothes. Also, several water tankers drawn from NALCO’s production units at Angul and Damanjodi have been pressed into service at Bhubaneswar for providing water.

NALCO will also provide relief material and assist district administration in relief and restoration job.
