Bhubaneswar: March 27: Naveen Patnaik announced special package of Rs.2,200 crore for the weaker sections of society as state is going through lockdown due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Chief Minister said though a video message that, all beneficiaries under the food security schemes shall be given ration in advance for three months. Besides, all 94 lakh families covered under food security schemes shall be provided with an assistance of Rs.1000 each and an amount of Rs.940 crore will be spent on this account.

Also, 48 lakh beneficiaries under various social security schemes will be given their pension/allowance for four months in advance and on this account Rs 932 crore will be spent.

Chief Minister also announces assistance for 22 lakh construction workers of the State. Government shall give Rs.1500 each and on this account Rs.330 crore will be spent.
