Bhubaneswar: August 15: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of 75th Independence Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar.
He paid rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das, Utkala Goraba Madhusadan Das, Buxi Jagabandhu, Veer Surendra Sai, Gopabandhu Choudhury, Maa Ramadevi, Nabakrushna Choudhury, Malati Choudhury, Parbati Giri, Shaheed Laxman Naik, Dr. Hare Krushna Mahatab and Biju Patnaik on the occasion of 75th Independence Day.
Chief Minister also paid tributes to the Jawans of the Country who have laid down their lives for the protection & peace of the Country.
Chief Minister paid tributes to the freedom fighters of the country and the State who played a crucial role in the freedom struggle.

Paying his rich tribute to the Covid warriors, Naveen hailed the ongoing efforts by Odisha to curb the Covid-19 infections.
He said, Odisha is placed in much better position compared to other States in the fight against Covid-19 in the country.
Odisha supplied medical oxygen to 17 States for nearly two months during the second wave of the pandemic and helped save many lives,” said Patnaik.
Naveen Patnaik declared regarding the introduction of Smart Health Card for the people of the State. This will be the first of its kind in the Country and with this, people can avail health services in more than 200 hospitals chains of the Country.
He said, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) will be implemented in a new way and the BSKY Smart Health Cards will be issued to around 96 lakh families (3.5 crore population) in the State.
Each family can avail treatment cost up to Rs 5 lakh per annum.
Similarly, women members can avail this benefit up to Rs 10 lakh every year.
The beneficiaries of National and State Food Security Schemes, Annapurna and Antyodaya schemes can avail this benefit.
Speaking on State’s efforts on Health Sector, Naveen said, “All the people of Odisha are my family. The news of people selling land, jewellery or stopping their children from going to school to manage their treatment costs, hurts me. So, we are trying to provide free quality treatment at best available health care facilities to the people of my state. That is why, we have given a new look to Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana’.
Speaking on State’s effort to support Sports & Games, he said, Odisha has been sponsoring Indian hockey team from 2018. The Team won a medal in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics which made the entire country proud.
Naveen Patnaik also spoke on Odisha’s various initiatives like ST initiatives in developing 1072 schools, Concept of Mo School Movement and many others.
