In total, 16 nations will compete in the 7th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will run from October 11 to October 30.

Three games are scheduled to be played at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium. On October 11, the Kalinga Stadium will host the opening match between India and the United States. At the same Bhubaneswar location on October 14 and 17, respectively, India will play with Morocco and Brazil.

Besides Bhubaneswar, two other venues are Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, and DY Patil Stadium.

Speaking on the occasion Patnaik said, “Odisha is emerging as a leading sports destination and hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022™️ is a momentous opportunity for our state.”

“The official Host City Logo launch of Odisha is an important milestone which also signifies the progress of women’s football. We are excited to host the best young female footballers from across the world and especially, the Indian team who will be playing all their group stage games at the Kalinga Stadium,” he said.

On this occasion, the “Kick Off The Dream Football Carnival,” a unique programme for schoolchildren, was also launched. This carnival includes games and activities with a football theme, as well as one five-a-side football pitch and two three-a-side football fields, with the goal of introducing football to kids and utilising its ability to normalise gender-inclusive participation.
