Nayagarh: In a tragic incident, a man was killed while more than 30 people sustained injury after a picnic bus met an accident in Nayagarh district of Odisha yesterday night. The road mishap took place near Khandis Bridge under Chandapur Police Station limits. The deceased has been identified as Pathani Jena.
As per reports, last night, 40 passengers from Gunthuni village under Itamati police station limits were going for a picnic to Kalijai area in the Indian Travels bus. When the bus was near the Khandis Bridge under Chandapur police station limits somehow the driver lost control over the steering and resultantly the bus overturned.
As a result a man was killed on the spot while more than thirty people sustained injury. On receiving information about the accident, the local people, Ranpur police, Chandapur police, fire department officials and 108 ambulances rushed to the spot and carried out rescue mission. All the injured persons were rushed to Ranpur Community Health Centre for treatment.
Out of the 30 injured persons, the doctor declared passenger Pathani Jena dead. As their health condition deteriorated 15 people have been shifted to Bhubaneswar for treatment. Chandpur police have seized the bus and investigation of the case is underway.
