President to Attend Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference Today

Bhubaneswar: President Draupadi Murmu is in Odisha. Today, she will attend the closing ceremony of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Bhubaneswar. As per reports, there is a program to felicitate overseas Indians with Pravasi Bharatiya Samman for their outstanding work. The Ministry of External Affairs has announced the names of the distinguished recipients of this award.

The President will leave for the airport for Delhi after spending about 5 hours at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference.

Yesterday, the President was welcomed by Governor Haribabu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi after her arrival in Bhubaneswar in a special Air Force plane. From there, she left directly for Raj Bhavan. She was welcomed with traditional dance, songs and music on both sides of the road.

It is to be noted that yesterday, on the second day of PBD Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second day of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference. Addressing the diaspora, the Prime Minister said, ‘Odisha is full of art and culture. Seeing Khandagiri, Udayagiri and Konark, one feels proud. Earlier, years ago, traders from Odisha used to travel to Bali, Sumatra and Java for trading? Bali Yatra is organized to commemorate this Odishan glory.”

“When the world was trying to expand its empire through force, Emperor Ashoka chose the path of peace in Odisha. That is why today India says that the future lies not in ‘Yuddha’ (war) but in Buddha.
