New Delhi: October 12: Kashmir Issue was not discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference after the second Modi-Xi informal summit, Foreign Secretary said, Our stand on the issue is very much clear that Kashmir is an internal matter of India.
However, during the meeting between the two leaders, the two countries discussed global terrorism and the threat it poses. PM Modi and President Xi agreed that, both countries should work together to deal with the challenge of terrorism, informed Vijay Gokhale.
Indian Foreign Secretary said, India and China will set up a mechanism to sort out the concerns pertaining to the bilateral trade issues which will be represented by Indian Finance Minister and the Chinese Vice Premier as members to discuss on how to reduce the trade deficit and improving bilateral investments.
During this summit, there was a one to one meeting between the two leaders for about 6 hours. The Foreign Ministry has said that President Xi Jinping has invited PM Modi to visit China. PM Narendra Modi may visit China next year. (Input from GNS)
