Bhubaneswar, March 14: Proud to be Odia feeling has remained intact among non-resident Odias although they have been living in foreign countries for very long time, Industry, School & Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra has said on Sunday.

Speaking at the Pravasi Odia Diwas, organised jointly by Hemant & Swarna Senapati Trust and Doctor Das Foundation on behalf of Non-Resident Oriya Facilitation Center (NROFC), Mishra said that such events proved that the Odia NRIs have not forgotten their homeland.

The Odias living in USA have played a significant role in promoting the Odia culture literature, art and heritage and establishing it in the globe, he added.

Notably, a department for Odissi dance has been established at University of Minnesota in US with the help of Doctor Das Foundation to encourage the dance form and music artistes.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and State’s Culture department have been urged to work as advisor in this field.

Similarly, the State government has signed a MoU with Sillicon Valley and TIE. Further, financial and other assistances are being provided to the start up entrepreneurs through Silicon Valley and TIE.
