NRF urges for a peaceful solution between them and Taliban

Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), on Sunday asked the Taliban to halt its assault on the last regions of the country and enter into “peaceful” talks amid reports of heavy fighting.

National Resistance Front of Afghanistan have been waging an intense battle against the Taliban in the Panjshir Valley and now said, they are open to enter peace talks.

Massoud said in a Facebook post , ‘The National Resistance Front agrees to solve the current problems and to stop the war and continue the process of negotiations and hopes that the Taliban will take practical steps to this demand of the honorable scholars. The National Resistance Front is ready to stop the war immediately in order to achieve stable peace, if the Taliban group ends its military attacks and movements in Panjshir and Andarab, and hopes that it will end the war with scholars and reformers in a large gathering all inclusively.
As reported, heavy fighting was there on Sunday in the mineral-rich region of Panjshir, the last of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces not to fall to the Taliban since the U.S. began its now-completed withdrawal of troops from the country last month.

The NRF said, its spokesman Fahim Dashti and a commander, Gen Abdul Wudod Zara, had been killed in the conflict.

On the other side, a number of religious scholars at a gathering in Kabul on Sunday asked both sides for the ceasefire.

There was no immediate response from the Taliban.
