Bhubaneswar: July 5: To protest the increase in vegetable prices in Odisha, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) activists today threw tomatoes and lady’s fingers at Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak’s official residence.

They also staged a demonstration in front of Nayak’s official residence while wearing garlands made from green vegetables.

Prices of most vegetables have gone up and consumers are suffering and even not going to market to purchase vegetables, students alleged.

The state government needs to act right away to stop the price increase, NSUI activists said. They also demand to construct cold storage at each block in the state.

When attempting to enter the minister’s home, the protesters scuffled with police officers. They also set fire to the effigies of both Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
