NTPC Talcher produced 22639 MU with PLF of 86.86% till Mar 28, 2017; ranks 4th among all NTPC plants

Kaniha, Mar 30 : NTPC Talcher Kaniha conducted a Press Meet at its premises on Wednesday. Debassis Sarkar, Group General Manager, Talcher Kaniha addressed the august meet. S Ghosh GM (Operations), P K Mahapatra GM (Maintenance ), A K Ojha GM (HR), NS Rao GM (TS), Arun Prasad GM (C&M), Anil Jana GM (FM), K Thirunarayan AGM (F&A), A K Kamilla AGM (EMG), L D Sahoo ,AGM (Ash Utilisation) were present at the press meet. Sarkar said that Talcher Kaniha produced 22639 MU with PLF of 86.86% till Mar 28, 2017. Till last month, the TSTPS here in India ranked at 6th position with a PLF of 86.55% and it stood at the 4th position the among the NTPC plants. He further stated that the present installed capacity of NTPC is 49,998 MW that includes 6,966 MW through JVs/Subsidiaries, comprising of 46 NTPC Stations (19 Coal based stations, 7 combined cycle gas/liquid fuel based stations, 1 Hydro based station), 9 Joint Venture stations (8 coal based and 1 gas based) and 10 renewable energy projects with solar power generation capacity of 620 MW. NTPC further plans to become a 130 GW company by the year 20132 having various types of fuel mix and a 600 BU company in terms of generation. The share of non-fossil fuel based capacity would be 30% and that of thermal-based generating capacity would be 70% and the share of Renewable (including hydro) would be 28%. It also plans to achieve 10,000 MW of solar power by the year 2022 and has also dreamed of getting a 1,000 MW of wind power. Additionally the company has crossed the 12th Plan capacity addition target of 11,920 MW by adding 12,840 MW which is the highest ever capacity addition in any 5-year plan by the company. Also, NTPC Kaniha is getting a good support from MCL for coal linkage from Lingraj Mines and Kaniha Mines. NTPC Talcher Kaniha provides cheap power to various eastern and southern states. Under CSR, the company is likely to take up huge plantation in and around the power station particularly at Ash Dyke to increase vegetation and hence it’s an appeal to the locals to support the plantation drive as a step to promote greenery. The company has also tied up with the district administration to enhance tree plantation. Coming to its employees, the company assures safety and security of it’s employees and contractual workers. Various initiatives are being initiated by the power station such as use of crash helmets by employees has been made mandatory and health check up of all employees to avoid accidents. Lastly regarding the expansion of the power station, a proposal for the same has been sent to the Corporate headquarters for its approval. As land is required for the new ash pond for the good functioning of the power station, the management of the company is having discussions with the district and state authority for providing the same.
