Odisha Assembly Pays Tribute To CDS Bipin Rawat
Odisha Legislative Assembly paid rich tribute to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika and 11 others who died in helicopter crash near Coonoor of Tamil Nadu yesterday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the condolence motion as soon as the House assembled to transact its business today.
Terming the sad demise of General Rawat and all 11 other armed personnel an “irreparable” loss to the nation, Patnaik said: “Their outstanding service to our nation will always be remembered.”
Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro, BJP member Bishnu Charan Sethi, CLP leader Narasingha Mishra and Communist leader Laxman Munda spoke in the House supporting the obituary motion.
The Assembly observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls and then adjourned till 4 p.m.
