Odisha Chief Minister asks officials to expedite the restoration and rehabilitation works in the cyclone affected areas:

Bhubaneswar: October 15: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed the post-cyclone reconstruction works with Chief Secretary of Odisha, Special Relief Commissioner and Secretaries of other concerned departments. Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi briefed the CM regarding condition of Gajapati District as he has visited and reviewed the post-cyclone scenario of Gajapati district.

After the review meeting, Chief Minister directed to pay One thousand rupees to all the affected families besides providing Fifty Kg Rice and Two & half litre Kerosene to each family. As announced by the Chief Minister, another two thousand rupees will be given soon to all the affected families which will be deposited in their bank accounts.

It is said, 57 lakh people of 114 blocks of sixteen districts of the state are affected due to cyclone and flood.

As discussed in the meeting, Cyclone affected areas have been gradually coming to normalcy. Government has been providing Polythene to all. Electricity restoration work is on and hopefully within two/three days, electricity can be re-connected to most of the affected areas.

Due to Cyclone and flood, agriculture has suffered a lot. Roads have been damaged in the affected areas and Government is expecting to complete the repairs of roads under rural development within three days and funds will be provided for this.

Health department has been providing free treatment and free medicine to the residents of affected areas through local hospitals and mobile health units.
