Bhubaneswar: June 13: 80 pucca houses were dedicated to the slum dwellers of Mahisakhala in BJB Nagar area of Bhubaneswar today by CM Naveen Patnaik. These 80 houses are built in two blocks having 40 houses each. Sources said, these houses are being given to rehabilitate the slum dwellers, who were evicted from slum Mahisakhala of Bhubaneswar. The state government is planning further to provide houses to 748 beneficiaries across 17 blocks. The state government has allocated Rs. 50 crore for the same. Housing and Urban development minister, Pushpendra Singhdeo informed that it’s the first phase in which 80 families of Mahisakhla slum will be rehabilitated. There’s a plan to build 760 houses, to the media persons. Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena said that as per the pre election government promise of providing housing to the poor people, 80 houses for the slum dwellers of Mahisakhala have been inaugurated.
Notably, these 80 houses have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 10 crore under the Rajiv Awas Yojana.
