Odisha: Demolition of Bada Akhada Matha of Puri begins:

Puri: September 08: After the demolition of Nanguli Matha and Emar Matha, the demolition of Bada Akhada Mutt resumed here on Sunday. There was no objection of any kind as the demolition of Bada Akhada Math began. The Mahanta of the Matha has been shifted to Nilachala Bhakta Niwas.

Six JCBs have been used for the demolition of Matha.

Puri Collector and officials of Puri Administration were also present on the site. 30 platoons of Police force have been deployed for smooth conduction of the demolition process.

Amicus Curiae Ranjit Kumar reached Puri on Saturday and had gone through the development blueprint and interacted with the managing committee. Further, he said, the eviction drive is for the benefit of all. So, no one should object the eviction process.

Bada Akhada Matha follows the traditions of 14th century Vaisnhavite saint Ramananda and was mainly inhavited by Naga Sadhus. The main purpose of this Matha was to protect the temple from foreign invaders.
