Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: To address the issue of seat vacancies in Engineering Colleges, Odisha Government is on the process of discussion on a proposal through which part-admission fee of Rs.30,000 paid by the students will be deposited with Odisha Joint Entrance Examination Committee. The deposited fee amount would remain with the OJEE until the third phase of the admission process gets complete. As per the ongoing procedure, the fee gets deposited in the colleges of the students’ choice itself after the first phase of Admission. It’s said by the sources that the students may continue to change colleges during the three phases of admission and due to some reasons if they withdraw from the admission process, their part of admission fee will get refunded. From now onward, admissions into colleges will be done on the basis of rank up gradation. Moreover, the final admission list will only be published after the conclusion of all three phases counselling. The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by the development commissioner to tackle seat vacancy issue in government engineering colleges. As opined by Tushar Kumar Nath, OJEE Chairman, this sort of proposed changes can address the issue of seat vacancy in government colleges.
